Ecology

Very little is known about nemerteans ecology (Thiel & Kruse, 2001). Most species are benthic and either burrow in sediments or live tangled around crevices in shells, stones and algal roots. This species was found lurking within in a large coral ecosystem collected from Heron island reef. When not hunting or moving around, this species would tangle up into a much smaller and compact shape and hide on the underside of rocks and coral nearby making it difficult to spot. This species may appear to look like a blue string if spotted while moving depending on the lighting.
